Нестандартные технические решения всегда открывают новые возможности для дизайнеров. Поэтому экспериментальный автобус ЛАЗ-360ЭМ, созданный головным союзным конструкторским бюро (ГСКБ) по автобусам в городе Львове, интересен прежде всего заложенными в него новшествами. Он задуман как городская машина большой вместимости. В целях снизить расстояние от пола в салоне до дороги (с уровня 890 мм у ЛиАЗ-677) до 360 мм и ускорить вход и выход пассажиров, конструкторы отказались от традиционной трансмиссии с карданными валами, расположенными под полом. Установленный в передней части автобуса генератор вырабатывает ток для питания тяговых электродвигателей, которые связаны с двумя задними ведущими осями. Такая конструкция ЛАЗ-360ЭМ дала в руки дизайнеров возможность найти новые пропорции машины, придать ей характерный облик, что для автобуса довольно непросто.

Custom solutions are always new opportunities for designers. Therefore, an experimental bus LAZ-360EM created by the parent union Design Bureau (GSKB) on buses in the city of Lvov, is interesting primarily laid down in his innovations. It was conceived as a city of large capacity machine. In order to reduce the distance from the floor in the cabin to the road (with a level of 890 mm in LiAZ-677) to 360 mm and speed up entry and exit of passengers, the designers abandoned the traditional transmission with cardan shafts, located under the floor. Mounted in front of the bus generator produces current for powering the traction motors, which are connected with two rear drive axles.
